FUNCTIONAL NEURO-ORTHOPEDIC REHABILITATION™, ATHLETIC INJURIES AND CHRONIC PAIN
PRACTICAL PAIN SCIENCE FOR BETTER RESULTS
- Is pain affecting your performance?
- Does chronic pain continue to plague you since an accident, injury or surgery, despite having been seen by the most respected doctors and therapists in the field?
- Do you continue to encounter frustrating limitations on your daily activities and/or athletic performance?
FNOR™ is neuro-orthopedic rehabilitation enhanced by cutting-edge brain science. It offers non-surgical, non-pharmaceutical solutions for a wide range of symptoms and conditions. Even when nothing else seems to work. The FNOR™ approach to pain includes an evolving range of innovative, clinical techniques drawing from a number of clinical disciplines intersecting at the human nervous system.
FNOR™ rehabilitation specialists–like Dr. Murray at MCN–utilize unique techniques to intensively stimulate body and brain to reestablish connections and boost function. By treating body and brain simultaneously, clients often experience unusually rapid reductions in pain and improvements in function, even after a long-history of chronic pain and multiple, prior surgeries.
“I have been suffering with chronic shoulder pain following a motor vehicle accident. I was always able to manage my pain through injections and pain medication, but the discomfort became too much, the constant strain of working at the computer and normal daily activities created a lot of inflammation and instability in my shoulder. Dr. Murray at MCN utilized specific therapies to help not only reduce my pain, but restore strength, stability, and range of motion.”

FAKTR (pronounced FACTOR) is actually a concept, not a technique. The acronym stands for Functional and Kinetic Treatment with Rehab. Co-Developed by Dr. Tom Hyde, DC, DACBSP, FRCCSS (Hon), ICSSD, CKTP, CSTI, GT, ART, FAKTR, FICC, incorporates the latest research and evidence-based soft-tissue techniques into a comprehensive protocol to treat common disorders of the musculoskeletal system and complicated injuries quickly and easily with impressive results. The co-developers utilized their training in a variety of soft tissue techniques including instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) to develop a concept that included function and treatment of the kinetic chain while utilizing various forms of rehabilitation at the same time. This unique approach to treating in the position of provocation (pain, loss of range of motion, feeling of tightness within the fascia/soft tissues) and during motion sets FAKTR-certified providers in a class all their own. FAKTR incorporates all of the above variations to evaluate and treat soft tissue/fascial conditions.
What conditions can FAKTR treat?
FAKTR can treat a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions including tendinopathy, sprains, strains, entrapment syndromes, fascial restrictions such as plantar fasciitis, ITB syndrome, myofascial pain syndromes, adhesive capsulitis, shin splints and post-surgical recovery. This list of conditions that can be treated with FAKTR protocols are too numerous to list here!
Who is the ideal patient for FAKTR?
While FAKTR is a great way to treat athletes quickly, the concept can be applied to all ages and all body types. FAKTR is excellent for those involved in auto accidents, work related injuries, sports injuries, post-surgical work including joint replacement and conditions of daily living.
IASTM is instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization. This unique form of treatment that encompasses the use of specific tools that are designed and tested to allow the doctor to break down scar tissue, fascial adhesions/restrictions and eliminate pain syndromes. IASTM has proven to be beneficial for muscle strains, ligament sprains, tendonopathies, chronic musculoskeletal inflammatory conditions, bursitis, spinal and joint pain.
